PaCu, an acronym which stands for Participatory Culture, is a Toronto-based collective initiating a new type of street gallery moment. Small display boxes placed strategically throughout the cityscape create an urban outdoor gallery for everyone to enjoy. With a transparent front, the lockable and durable metal units are internally lit at night through solar-panel-assisted LEDs so pedestrians can enjoy art any time of the day. Limited in their size, PaCuBox pushes creative boundaries by asking artists to think inside the box.
As a special edition of PaCuBox residency for the Canadian Winter Olympics 2010, there will be four boxes on display for this installation. The galleries will featuring artwork from selected artists around Canada.
